Price charged with felony murder

24-yr-old Deoveon Price has been arrested and charged with felony murder after shooting and killing Christopher “DJ” Chapman, 27

On June 6, 2025 at 12:36pm officers were dispatched to a gunshot wound call on Oak Street in Summerville. Upon arrival 27-year-old Christopher “DJ” Chapman of Summerville was found in the roadway unresponsive with a serious gunshot wound. Mr. Chapman was transported to Chattooga ER where he was later pronounced dead.

The initial on-scene investigation resulted in 24-year-old Deoveon Price of Summerville being identified as the shooter and that he had left the scene in his vehicle.

A short time later Mr. Price was found to be driving a different vehicle and was taken into custody in a traffic stop on Taylors Ridge without incident.

Upon further investigation it appears that Mr. Price and Mr. Chapman were involved in a physical altercation that lead to Mr. Price pulling a pistol and shooting Mr. Chapman in the chest.

The following charges are being placed against Mr. Price:
· Felony Murder
· Aggravated Assault
· Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime

The Summerville Police Department extends their appreciation to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, the Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force, and the Georgia State Patrol for all of the assistance they provided during the investigation.
